Hey everyone,
My name is Sophia Martin. I just finished my junior year in high school, and I am attempting to graduate with my Associate of Arts Degree. I originally come from Prince of Wales Island, which is down in Southeast Alaska. My family of 6 moved up to Palmer a few years ago to foster our 4 cousins, and all of them have gone back to their parents as of last week, which is very exciting for us. Aside from all that, however, I love music and animals, the two things I spend my time with when I'm not working or doing school.
Music is my art. I do like to draw and dabble around with photography, but I'm definitely closest with music. My absolute favorite thing to do is write songs, and I write as many as I can when I have the time. There is something so beautiful in the coming together of lyrics and melodies, and even people. There are not many moments in life quite like those when people are brought together through music. I believe it is an art, and a treasure.
This picture is from the Spencer Museum of Art. I love the simplicity of the drawing and it reminds me of myself, because I love to play piano at night with my dog lying next to me.
For the comments section, if anybody wants to respond, I want to know why you are taking Art 200 and what other classes you are taking this summer?
This is a test comment on a different account to see if the comment will go through.
ReplyDeleteI have been to PoW, back when I was in high school. Over a decade ago, the city administrator of Craig took this course. I haven't written a song in years. Too busy teaching music - oh well.
ReplyDeleteHi Sophia!
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me say congratulations on taking college courses during high school. I am on the farther end of the student population spectrum - I am 35 and finally found my calling several years ago. I am taking this class to round out my final general education requirements, and I am also taking two communications classes this summer in addition to Psychology of Trauma. Four classes.. it's going to be busy. PoW is so beautiful! I lived in SE Alaska for many years in Sitka and Juneau. It really is such a magical place, and I hope to move back one day.
HI! I also love music. I don't write songs, but I do love to sing. I would love to hear one of your songs during this course. Congratulations on taking a college course during school. Hopefully this Fall, I will have my General Study Associates Degree. I have some family that just recently moved to Palmer. I encourage you to keep going in furthering your education. I wish you the best during this course.
ReplyDeleteHello Sophia! Woah! You're really getting the jump on your classes! I'm impressed. It sounds like you have a beautiful family. I'm also a music lover and I enjoy playing instruments at night as well. There is something so relaxing about playing a tune to wind down in the evening, although my mischievous kitty-cat likes to cause some havoc if he's around. He could use a manner lesson from your dog.
